| UNFCCC Publishes Review of Canada’s Fourth National Communication |

The report demonstrating progress (RDP) provides some information on the progress made by Canada in achieving its commitments under the Kyoto Protocol. Supplementary information required under Article 7, paragraph 2, of the Kyoto Protocol is provided in both the NC4 and the RDP. The ERT recommends that Canada ensure timely submission of its future national communications. The ERT notes that Canada’s NC4 is, to some extent, comprehensive and transparent and provides clear information on many aspects of implementation. Although the reporting on climate change policies and measures is extensive, information on policies that lead to higher levels of greenhouse gas emissions remains unclear. The UNFCCC Secretariat has published the report of the centralized in-depth review of the fourth national communication of Canada (NC4) (CCC/IDR.4/CAN).The review was conducted by an expert review team (ERT) in accordance with relevant provisions of the Convention and Article 8 of the Kyoto Protocol. The ERT noted that Canada’s NC4 complies to a large extent with the “Guidelines for the preparation of national communications by parties included in Annex I to the Convention, Part II: UNFCCC reporting guidelines on national communications.” custom built computer
