Nanotechnology for Climate Change

By Yogesh Kumar, CarbonFreeZone

A naturally produced catalyst that produces need-based amount of active oxygen and drives eco logical reactions that clean polluted water (surface water, ground water and waste water) and gases.

BIOSANITIZER, developed by Bhawalkar Ecological Research Institute (BERI) acts like a nano-forest that can be used in any polluted liquid or gas, to convert pollution into resources.

“It converts diverse forms of pollution into resources, at speed that can be 1,000 times higher than the natural ecosystems” said Dr. Bhawalkar, head & founder of BERI situated at Pune (India).

With no production of sludge or greenhouse gases, and without any assistance in the form of machinery or electricity, BIOSANITIZER is a self-operating and self-improving system.

BIOSANITIZER has been successfully implemented in various projects across 13 countries covering Water Treatment, Waste-water treatment, Solid waste management, water conservation and flood control etc.

“It is a compact ‘Eco-chip’ that can correct natural as well as man-made pollution. Typically, 100 mg of BIOSANITIZER offers us the same speed and efficacy as offered by 1 acre of natural forest.” added Dr. Bhawalkar.

BIOSANITIZER is kept in contact with fluids (liquids or gases). The fluid remains clean by converting the inorganic pollution into resources. Foul smelling air transforms into crisp, fresh, forest air. The active oxygen produced by the BIOSANITIZER takes care of toxic organic pollution, odour, pathogens and pests. Bio action also needs to absorb and utilize CO2, NOx and warmth. Thus the Biosanitizer becomes an important tool in correcting the threat of global warming.

Another unique advantage of the product is the cost effectiveness and ease of use as pointed out by Dr. Bhawalkar “This is the convenience. There are no repetitive operating expenses involved; one just needs to drop the BIOSANITIZER catalyst granules in water. They sink to the bottom and produce need-based active oxygen from the bottom.”

If the BIOSANITIZER (biocatalyst granules) are used in the fuel tank of automobiles or stationary engines or service tank of boilers that use furnace oil, we get cleaner emission with substantially less CO, NOx and CO2, with several other advantages such as higher mileage, increased engine power, lower temperature and reduced repairs and maintenance costs.

Dr. Bhawalkar, is a graduate in Chemical engineering from IIT Bombay. Later he studied Nature for 24 years, perfected this innovation, and received his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay.

This article is the first in the series, covering innovations done in the field of climate change which can offer us some of the best ways to tackle climate change.

Congratulations Dr Bhawalker you are doing a great job. I want to know whether Biosanitiser can be used in power projects to lower carbon dioxide emissions. If yes what is its cost.

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
Coal/oil/gas based power projects can use BIOSANITIZER to lower the CO2, NOx and SOx emissions, earn carbon credits. Investment for the BIOSANITIZER is relatively small and gets paid back in a month's time, through the resource generation. Do send an e-mail to bvpl@vsnl.com, to discuss this further.

Raghu Nambiar says:
Sir Brief History I am staying in Pune, a very big housing society of more than 300 flats. PMC supply of water is insufficient for usage purpose (only sufficient for drinking purpose). We have a stone quary (KADAN) near by our society and our builder installed a Thermax Water filtration plant for purification of Kadan raw water to usage water. However quality of the water is not satisfactory (Yelloish Colour), but lab reports by PMC water department says the water is usable without any fear. I

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
Dear Mr Nambiar, The problem of yellow color is due to the possible stock of organic sludge that is invariably present in any lake. BIOSANITIZER granules, if dropped in the lake, can heal the whole ecosystem and hence produce healthy(health giving) water.

Bijaya K Sarangi, Ph.D. says:
Biosanitizer is a scientific marvel, when I go through the features and comments given by learned personalities on its efficacy. As a student of science, may I request you to kindly help me learn the physico-chemical nature of the biosanitizer to gather clear understanding on its function? Sincerely, B.K.Sarangi

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
Dear Bijaya, In order to create the JOY of discovering the novel mechanisms of BIOSANITIZER yourself, I suggest that: - Find some case of actual pollution, not a difficult task, these days. - Solve the problem, taking my guidance by e-mail. - Carry out the measurements and discuss with me. - I will only guide you to a proper path, but the joy of new knowledge will be yours, plus wonderful paper in reputed journals.

Please contact Mr Shantharam Shenai, phone 022 26329978 / 9324156273 at Green Cross Society at Andheri West, on J P Road, near Seven Bungalow. The gasoline adulteration gets converted into extra milage and cleaner exhaust, plus reduced maintenance and cool/silent engine.

D.P. Joshi Baroda says:
This invention will be most useful in converting natural water into potable water. Availability of potable ater in India is poor and is a cuse of concern. Will it help?

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
BIOSANITIZER can be used to treat all sort of water: groundwater, surface water or rainwater. Treatment can take place in a well, borewell or in the water storage tank. Pons or lakes can be treated, so can be running streams, rivers and seas. It can treat inorganic as well as organic pollution. Most difficult toxins can be cracked and root-cause correction of odour-pathogens-pests is possible.

ALL THE STATE GOVERNMENTS SHOULD LOOK AFTER THIS SERIOUSLY. CHENNAI KOOVAM CAN BE REPLENISHED BY THIS NATHAN

Archana chavan says:
really if is this true then one of the biggest source got to save nature i also want to do the experiment on this.

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
See http://ecovivekananda.blogspot.com/ to see some interesting videos that show BIOSANITIZER in action. Best way, however, is to use the BIOSANITIZER to solve a real burning pollution problem and see it getting converted into resources.

ayesha madon says:
what are the health benefits of drinking biosanitized water and does it have the same benefits as ozonated water? Ayesha Madon (Goa)

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
Biosanitized water has 'healing' effect, it can tackle the toxic organics(pesticides, for example, heavy metals and other toxins(chemical and biological) that can enter human system through food. Hence it is important to use biosanitized water for drinking, cooking, washing, and all other jobs(such as gardening). UNICEF supported this technology during the recently held SACOSAN III International Conference in India.

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
Incidentally, one may note that our ancestors had listed 6 vices of mind according to increasing levels of nitrate band, and not alphabetically. These vices are kaam(sex), krodha(anger), lobha(greed), mada(arrogance), moha(temptation) and matsar(jealous). Now we have one more at very high band of nitrates: hinsa(murder). Nature has given two kidneys for man so that the inorganic pollution is taken out effectively. Nitrates control not only the inorganic pollutants in our body, but also

Dr Uday Bhawalkar says:
...(continued) the toxic organic pollutants(pesticides, for example) that can enter human body through food, water or air. Saint Meerabai(saint has low nitrates), thus, could digest a glass of poison.
