Go Carbon Free The DELL Way
After revolutionizing PC selling and marketing for 20 years, the crowned America’s most admired Fortune No. 1 Company, Dell scores again, only this time in environment and carbon offsetting. Dell introduces Carbon-Neutral or Carbon Free PC.
The multi-billion Dolor PC manufacturers have launched various initiatives in going Green and making them selves and their consumers Carbon Free. A consumer buying a PC has to pay as low as $2 - $6 for the fund that would then be used to plant trees and offset the amount of energy consumption required for a PC in its life time.
DELL currently appears in top 5 in GreenPeace ranking of Electronics Company who have taken initiatives to eliminate carbon emission caused by their product once they have been discarded by their consumers.
PCs have a relative shorter life span because of new technology coming out each day. Due to high concentration of chemicals and metals involved in hardware it becomes all more important to recycle it rather than being dumped and scraped.
This is a step in the right direction believes the chairman Michael Dell. The move will help strengthen the position of DELL in front of their competitors who are still struggling to come up with their carbon offsetting model.
With ethical brigades taking over and urging corporate world to be more responsible and pro-active, initiatives taken by such big company does send strong positive signals. It not only boost moral of people fighting for Climate Change but also helps to create strong pool of resources which stand to work towards a greener and carbon free tomorrow.
